Last updated: October 2026, when the US store opened. Responsible party: Tappd, South Africa. Contact: hello@tappdza.co.za
What we collect
When you place an order: your name, email address, phone number, and a delivery address or the Pudo locker you have chosen. We need every one of these to get a parcel to you and to tell you it is coming.
When you pay: nothing. Your card details go directly to our payment provider — Yoco for South African orders, Stripe for US orders — and never touch our servers. We receive a payment reference and an amount, not a card number.
When you use the site: your cart, your saved items and your theme preference are stored in your own browser, not on our servers. If you sign up for an account, your name and email are also stored in your browser.
When you contact us: whatever you write to us, so we can answer.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your information. Not to anyone, at any price.
- We do not use it for advertising or share it with advertisers.
- We do not email you marketing unless you asked us to.
Who else sees it
- Yoco — payment processing. They see what is needed to take a card payment.
- Stripe — payment processing for orders from our US store. They see what is needed to take a card payment, and your email address so they can send a receipt.
- Pudo / The Courier Guy — delivery in South Africa. They get your name, phone number and delivery address, because a parcel cannot arrive without them.
- USPS, and whoever packs US orders from our US stock — delivery in the United States. They get your name, phone number and delivery address, for the same reason.
- Our hosting provider — the server your order sits on.
- Third-party services on some pages — the tap map uses services that can see your approximate location from your IP address, in order to place a dot on a map. Nothing about you is stored with it.
That is the complete list.
How long we keep it
Where it is processed: Tappd is run from South Africa, so an order from the US store is stored on our server and read by our team there, and the details needed to pack and post it are passed to the United States. We protect it the same way in both places.
Order records are kept for five years, because South African tax law requires it. Contact-form messages are kept while they are useful and then deleted. Anything in your browser is yours to clear whenever you like.
Your rights under POPIA
You are entitled to:
- ask what we hold about you, and get a copy;
- have anything wrong corrected;
- have it deleted, except where we are legally required to keep an order record;
- object to how we are using it;
- complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa.
Email hello@tappdza.co.za and we will action it within 30 days. There is no form to fill in and no charge.
If you live in the United States
The same rights apply to you: ask what we hold, get a copy, have it corrected, or have it deleted (except an order record we must keep for tax). We do not sell or share your personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of. Email hello@tappdza.co.za and we will respond within 45 days. We will never treat you differently for asking.
Who is responsible for your information
The responsible party under POPIA is TappdZA, at 91 Tugela Street, Riversdal, Meyerton, Gauteng, South Africa. The Information Officer is reachable at hello@tappdza.co.za or on WhatsApp at 065 085 8317. If we do not resolve something, the Information Regulator of South Africa can be contacted at complaints.IR@justice.gov.za.
Security
The site runs over HTTPS everywhere. Order details are stored outside the public web folder, so there is no address that reaches them. Payment credentials are never stored by us at all. No system is perfect, and we will tell you promptly if anything ever goes wrong that affects you.
Children
The site is not aimed at children under 18. If a young person wants a bracelet, a parent or guardian should place the order.
Changes
If this page changes materially we will update the date at the top. Anything that affects a decision you have already made, we will email you about.
